Inclusive Layered Histories via Digital Interactives

Halifax Citadel - Parks Canada

Digital Exhibits lead for major multi-year renovation of core exhibits at Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. The completely revamped exhibits focused on telling the multiple perspectives of what has traditionally been understood to be a military heritage site. Featuring lead stories and commissioned artworks by Mi’kmaq artists and knowledge keepers, visitors are invited to consider the multiple and overlapping layers of cultures and historical narratives found in the same timeline.

Responsible for the innovative object-recognition Anchor Table exhibits (x4) featured in each historical period, we led the ngx team in developing inclusive and layered historical interpretation that use “lenses” to reveal and uncover unique cultural perspectives of the many histories that are part of the the Citadel’s evolution.

Working with partners Lord Cultural Resources, kubik, Origin Studios, as project lead from ngx, project scope focused on digital exhibits, including custom interactive artillery games, filming of historical re-enactment portraits, and contributing to achieving a more equitable and engaging visitor experience.
