Museum of Vancouver AR walking tour & virtual exhibit
The Visible City: Vancouver’s Neon Stories

Launched in 2013, The Visible City was the first augmented reality (AR) app and virtual exhibition by a museum in Canada. Designed to take the museum experience “beyond the walls” and into the city itself, visitors could use it to discover the rise, fall and revival of neon in Vancouver. The app provides walking tours of Vancouver’s most colourful neon neighbourhoods and users can actively contribute to the history of 57 of Vancouver’s neon signs by uploading their own stories, sharing them with others and voting on their favourite signs and places.
Served as overall project lead - we conceptualized, and developed the experience and design, as well as led an internal team to handle all interpretive development, research, oral history taking, and managed the design/software production team. Obtained, and managed several substantial federal and provincial grants for this groundbreaking museum project.
